Meng Menu: The Two Week Plan

I have been trying to simplify my life so I decided to start shopping for two weeks worth of groceries at a time instead shopping once a week. I did it for the first time two weeks ago and was really surprised that I saved a lot of money. Our weekly budget is $150 per week. When I shopped for two weeks for the first time, I spent $207. I made two small trips in the two weeks and spent an extra $60 in total but still, I was under the $300/two week budget!

This week I spent $211 in total. (I saved $41.53 with my Kroger card and coupons). So instead of $150 per week, I spent about $105. Awesome.

Another great perk of doing "big shopping" every two weeks is the time I saved. Shopping took me 40 minutes today and I can forgo a big trip next Sunday.

I am not really sure why the two week shopping is saving us so much money--maybe I am just planning better, shopping smarter sales, and stocking up? I can't put my finger on it but overall, I am really happy!

Here's what we are eating for dinner in the next two weeks. Of course, the food I bought covers breakfast, lunch, snacks, and drinks for two adults and three kids too.

Sunday: Leftover BBQ Venison sandwiches, chips, carrots
Monday: Turkey Sub sandwiches, chips, apples
Tuesday: London broil, mashed potatoes, broccoli
Wednesday: Shepherds pie (potluck for Life Group)
Thursday: Pork chops, parmesan rice, green beans
Friday: Out to eat

Saturday: Sloppy joes, baked fries, carrots and broccoli

Sunday: Sausage, eggs, hashbrowns, fruit
Monday: Asian Pork strips, rice, broccoli
Tuesday:  Cheesy chicken rice casserole, steamed broccoli
Wednesday:  BLTs, chips, fruit
Thursday: Spaghetti w/ sausage, salad
Friday: Out to eat
Saturday: Baked Cod filets, parmesan rice, green beans
